Abstract:

In AA-collisions, the beam of partons from one of the nuclei passes through the target nucleus as through a hadronic medium and can emit Cherenkov-like gluons. If exist, gluon jets formed by hadronic Cherenkov effect should possess a fixed emission polar angle. No such effect is included in HIJING. Therefore, it can serve for estimation of the background for this effect. The HIJING polar angle distributions of pronounced peaks in individual events are obtained at RHIC and LHC energies. If some excess at a fixed polar angle is found in experiment, this would indicate the new effect.
