Nuclear modification factor for Cu-Cu collisions at 62 GeV

Abstract:

Results from AuAu collisions at \sqrt{s_{NN}}=62.4 GeV exhibits interesting features of the evolution and dynamics of the medium created. The BRAHMS experiment has measured a large suppression in the central to peripheral yields ratio, R_{cp}. Data now exist for a much lighter system, CuCu. We will present nuclear modification factors as a function of pseudorapitity for charged hadrons from \sqrt{s_{NN}}=62.4 GeV CuCu collisions. At forward rapidities, no p+p data exist for this beam energy, so we rely on the ratio of central to peripheral, R_{cp} as well as a comparison with AuAu data from \sqrt{s_{NN}}=62.4 GeV, R_{AuCu}, and a comparison to models. Such measurements allow one to explore how the created media affects the suppression of the high p_{T} hadrons with respect to collision geometry and pseudorapidity.
