First Announcement
Quark Matter 2005

Dear Colleague,

It is our pleasure to invite you to participate at the Quark Matter 2005 Conference in Budapest, Hungary.
The final schedule of the 18th International Conference on Ultra-Relativistic Nucleus-Nucleus Collisions, Quark Matter 2005, will be  August 4 - 9, 2005.

Main patron:
Ferenc Mádl, the President of the Hungarian Republic kindly accepted to act as the main patron of this meeting.

Location:
The location of the conference will be at the Conference Center of the Eötvös University, Pázmány Péter sétány 1/A, Budapest XI, on the western shore of the Danube river. Before the  conference, we shall organize a one day pre-QM05 symposium for students on August 3. There will be a Welcome Reception on the evening of August 3, and the formal opening of the conference will be on August 4 at 9:00 a.m.  The schedule includes five and half days of conference talks, with a half day long excursion on Sunday, August 7.

Fellowships for young participants
Financial support will be available for a limited number of students under the age of 35 years. Please kindly fill out  the pre-registration form, it allows us to estimate the interest in the support requests.

Quark Matter 2005

It is our pleasure to invite you again to participate at the Quark Matter 2005 Conference, to be held in August 4 - 9, 2005, in  Budapest, Hungary.

 

 

Scientific and financial registration has been opened:

The scientific registration and the financial registration are now open and linked to the web-page of the meeting at http://qm2005.kfki.hu/. Please invest your time and fill in both of these forms as soon as possible.

 

 

Topics, scientific program:

Abstract submission is now open:

The scientific registration page has been opened. Please submit your abstracts for contributed talks on the above topics before the deadline of May 20, 2005. Please select the topic of your talk from the above possibilities. Optionally, please add a link for further information or reference, for example to the arXiv.org e-print or to a .ppt / .pdf  presentation of your work. This will help the International Advisory Committee in making their selection.

Conference venue:

The location of the conference will be at the Conference Center of the Eötvös University, Pázmány Péter sétány 1/A, Budapest XI, on the south  western shore of the Danube river. Before the  conference, we shall organize a one day pre-QM05 symposium for students on August 3.

 

 

Hotel information and reservation:

Conference participants can book various hotels in Budapest at a special conference rate.  As the conference quotas are limited at each hotel, please book your room as soon as possible.

 

Hotel Gellért and Hotel Mercure Duna are within walking distance from the conference venue, for other hotels you need to commute.

 

Although the early registration fee, 410 Euro is a significant amount, we would like to call your attention to the fact that a lot of expenses can be saved on the housing. For those who arrive by car, we recommend Hotel Sunlight, a *** Hotel in the Buda hills with a beautiful panorama and a spacious parking lot, at the special 35 Euro/night single, 44 Euro/night double occupancy rate. Student housing is available at a special rate in dorm style in the Student Hostel Bolyai, 37 Euro/single, 42 Euro/double, 44 Euro/triple occupancy - the conference venue can be reached by public transportation.

Registration fees and deadlines:

 

Early  registration fee (until May 31 *
extended until June 14):

410 EUR

Normal registration fee (until July 15):

460 EUR

On-site registration fee (after July 15):

510 EUR

Student registration fee (no time limit):

410 EUR

Accompanying regist. fee (no time limit):

170 EUR

 

Registration fee covers: access to the conference facilities, proceedings, internet connections (normal & wireless), conference materials, welcome reception, lunches, coffee breaks, and two cultural events.

 

Student registration fee includes an extra lunch and coffee breaks on the Pre-Conference Student Day in addition to the above registration fee.

 

Accompanying registration fee covers: welcome reception, one full day excursion with lunch and two half day excursions.

 

Fellowships for young participants:

Financial support will be available for a limited number of students under the age of 35 years. Please indicate the request for financial support on the registration form. The deadline for the application is set to May 20, 2005, decision on the student support will be made by May 25(*extended until June 9).

Optional Quark Matter 2005 programs:

We have decided to make the conference excursions and dinner available as an option, for a separate fee, to make the scientific events more available for colleagues with a restricted budget. These can be booked at the registration page. We strongly recommend to take part in these unforgettable events:

 

      - Conference Dinner:

It will be organized on a ship that cruises the Danube with a most beautiful panorama of the World Heritage site of the Buda castle and the evening panorama of the Hungarian capital. These tours give one of the most beautiful views of Budapest, the photos on the conference web-pages only try to give some estimate on the actual views.

The optional fee for this program will be 60 Euro.

 

      - Conference Excursions:

On Sunday afternoon we offer two possibilities:

a)      A bus-tour of Budapest and a Hungarian Equestrian Show and dinner in Godollo. We shall drive you to a number of scenic spots in our capital with beautiful photo possibilities, then end the program with a dinner with Hungarian Gypsy music in a traditional settings.
The optional fee for this program will be 45 Euro.

b)      A tour of the Danube band including Visegrád, a middle-age fight presentation, renaissance dances, music and food in a medieval setting in the castle of King Mathias.
The optional fee for this program will be 45 Euro.

 

 

      - Post-conference excursions:

There will be organized post-conference tours to Lake Balaton, Abbey of Pannonhalma, Eger and Hortobágy. These programs will start after the end of the conference if more than 20 persons sign up.
